The Current balances of the Village Green Commi�ee’s related budget accounts, as of Sept. 7 are as follows:

  1. Community Beau�fica�on – contractual expenses (#8510.4) ----- (-)

  2. Shade Tree – contractual expenses (#8560.4) ------------------------- (-)

  3. Village Green Commi�ee Checking Account Balance -------------------$10,261.20--

The Village Green Commi�ee met last month as part of the newly established quarterly mee�ng schedule. There was a discussion about the history of the VGC, tree plan�ngs and recruitment. They also used this mee�ng for preliminary planning for the upcoming Fall plan�ng which will happen early to mid-November. Addi�onally, we discussed the grant applica�on and process. The grant was submi�ed at the end of the month. Word should come middle to end of October about any award.

Residents and businesses interested in having a tree(s) planted on their adjacent Village street or NYS highway right-of-ways, volunteering for plan�ng days, or sponsoring a VGC beau�fica�on project, may contact David Pearson, myself, Kym Bradley-Rickard, or the Jen Cavanaugh- Village Clerk.

The next regularly scheduled mee�ng will be the Second Sunday of December at 6 p.m.

We con�nue to meet regularly to discuss the final steps for the sewer project. We met on 29[th] to discuss the need for some bigger plans and to address the requests and future requests to connect. Currently we are working on edits to the code and ensuring all documenta�on is up to date and accurate.

There are s�ll a few items on the checklist needing to be completed prior to a full comple�on of the Sewer Project.

As a reminder to all residents whether you are in the Sewer Use Area or not be kind to your pipes! Please put only 3 P’s in the toilet: Pee, Poop and (Toilet) Paper and while in the kitchen (or near other drains) no Fats, Oils, or Grease “FOG” – they clog up the pipes and make the system stressed. What goes down the drain ma�ers!

If you are in the sewer use area and the emergency alarm goes off, call the Village Sewer Operator (845) 758-1081, op�on 8. Press the “Silence Alarm” bu�on ONLY AFTER no�fying the Sewer Operator. Please do not open the box or tamper with Village owned equipment.

We have reconnected with the engineer firm and the next steps are for them to prepare a proposal which will be reviewed by the Board. The proposed traffic study will cover at least one to two streets per quadrant focusing on high traffic roads and neighborhoods. We will take considera�on from exis�ng studies to inform areas of interest and what would be best for the Village businesses and residents.

However, Dave and I met to coordinate for the upcoming Fall Plan�ng which will take place in November and for future grant opportuni�es. Part of the role of the Village Green Commi�ee is to promote access to the green spaces in our village and part of that is fulfilling Bench requests/dona�ons. The bench dona�ons from the VFW are in design mode and are moving forward and hopefully will be solidified this month. Village of Red Hook Sewer Department Monthly Report August 2023 This last month we took a trip to the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) to familiarize ourselves with the layout poten�al maintenance issues and spur ideas for the future of the sewer. During the month of July the average daily flow was 9 Million Gallons Per day at Plant B (old Red Hook Commons Plant) and 40 Million gallons per day at Plant A (New plant). There were samples sent out for tes�ng and all came back normal. There are a few items needed for repair/maintenance.
