Kevin Burke, Greenway Conservancy Chair Hudson River Valley Greenway 625 Broadway, 4th Floor Albany, NY 12233-2995

Dear Mr. Burke,

The Village of Red Hook would like to extend its strong support for the Town of Red Hook’s application for a Greenway Conservancy Hudson River Valley Trail Grant. This application is for funds to support the design and engineering of the Saw Kill pedestrian bridge linkage project, connecting Recreation Park East to the Cookingham Farm Trails in the Town of Red Hook and the Richard M. Abrahams Memorial Park in the Village of Red Hook.

Villagers have long discussed connecting the Town’s Rec Park to the Village’s Abrahams Park. And the bridge would be the last off-street link needed for the Village 2 Village trail at Recreation Park West and the NYS Empire State Trail at the Bard College trailhead to the Town and Village of Red Hook recreation areas.

We join with the Town in encouraging recreational opportunities throughout the Village and the Town. This project would be an important one to enhance and expand those opportunities.

Feel free to contact me if you should have any questions or require additional information. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

OALM Sm the Mayor Karen Smythe

The Village of Red Hook is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
