1. Highway Department:

Materials Management

Here are the costs and expenses for the month of August. Please see the attached Resource Recovery Data Report.

Trash & Recycling Pickup

Trash & Recycling must be out before 5am on Monday mornings. Cardboard bundles should be bound together with string or tape. Paper recycling should be placed loose within a lidded tub or bin.

Recycling Pickup alternates between Yellow (paper & cardboard) & Blue (metal, plastic & glass). The Dual-Stream Recycling calendar and guide can be picked up at the Clerk's office, or found online at redhookvillage.org/recycle

Village Brush / Yard Waste Pickup

Pickups are scheduled for the first full week of every month, pending weather conditions and scheduling. Leaf pickup will begin soon. Residents are reminded of the following:

  • Avoid creating long-term piles, place piles out just prior to pick-up week.

  • Lawn clippings and brush should be set out in separate piles.

  • Place piles on the edge of your lawn (not on the sidewalk or in the street).

  • Piles should not include: construction debris, garbage, stumps, and/or branches larger than 6” in diameter.

  • Piles should be limited to 6' x 6' x 6'.

Brush and leaf piles should never cover water or sewer shut offs or on top of fiberoptic ground vaults.

Bulk Item tags are available for purchase at the Clerk's office.

2. Scrap Metal Program:

Total revenue for this Fiscal Year (Jun 2025- May 2026) to date is$1851
Since the Program’s inception, in Sep 2007, donations have yielded a total of$57368.24
Proceeds from the program go towards the purchase of tools & equipment for the Public Works Dept.
Residents & businesses interested in donating metal may contact the Village Clerk’s ofce to schedule a pickup.

3. Street Light Complaints:

If you notice a street light out in the Village: You may notify Central Hudson directly by going to: cenhud.com/en/outages, selecting ‘ Report a Street Light ’ and filling out their online form.

4. Potholes:

You can notify the village of potholes on Village roads by calling the Village Clerk’s office or filling out the “Report a Concern” form at: redhookvillage.org/concern. Please note that the Village is not allowed to conduct repairs on State Highways. If you would like to report a pothole on a State Highway, The Village can forward your concern - or you can submit your complaint directly to the NYS DOT by calling 1.800.POTHOLE (1.800.768.4653).

5. Foreman Appreciation, or, “Giving Jake his Flowers” :

Thank you Jake for taking the time to guide the VGC through the intensive process of setting up a Planting Day. Extremely helpful to have this documented and public for future members (and liaisons!)

**VILLAGEWHEREAS OF RED HOOK RESOLUTION # clauses: - 2026 DATED: April 13, 2026** A meeting of the Village of Red Hook Board of Trustees was convened in public session at the Village Hall, 7467 South Broadway, Red Hook, NY on April 13, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smythe. ## **RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE RESUBMISSION OF GREENWAY GRANT APPLICATION FOR VILLAGE CENTER PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT** WHEREAS, the Village of Red Hook became a Greenway Compact Community in June 16, 2016 by amending the Village Code, adding Chapter 25 – Greenway Compact, and WHEREAS, - one value of the Greenway Compact is Strengthening Centers (B) which includes supporting and developing Walkable Communities (B-2) and Slower, Safer Streets (B-4), and WHEREAS, - an additional value is Site Specifics (E) which includes Landscaping (E1), Signs (E2), Lighting (E4), and Street Trees (E5), and WHEREAS, - Greenway Compact Communities are eligible to apply for matching grants up to $50,000 to fund projects in keeping with the Greenway Compact, and WHEREAS, - Village residents, visitors, and business owners have all consistently expressed the need for improvements to the pedestrian experience in the Village Center, and WHEREAS, - the Village of Red Hook is applying to the Hudson River Valley Greenway for a grant under the Hudson River Valley Greenway McHenry Planning Grant Program for a project to develop a Prioritized Plan to Improve Pedestrian Experience to be located in the Village Center, and WHEREAS, - the Village of Red Hook requests $15,000 and agrees to provide funding match and/or in-kind match in the amount of $15,000 equal to or greater than the amount requested, and WHEREAS, - the current cycle of Greenway Compact grants has a due date of April 24, 2026. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED thatclauses: - the Village of Red Hook Board of Trustees hereby does approve and endorse the application for a grant under the Hudson River Valley Greenway McHenry Planning Grant Program, for a project know as Prioritized Plan to Improve Pedestrian Experience in the Village Center, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that - the Village's $15,000 match will come from the Unrestricted Fund Balance of the General Fund.
