Town of Red Hook Comprehensive Plan - Steering Commi ee Mee ng Minutes August 26, 2025 7:30-9:00pm Red Hook Town Hall In A endance Commi ee: Laurie Husted, Dennis Kanuk, Chuck Mead, Hart Migdal, Sam Phelan, Tricia Reed, Julia Solomon (Chair), Doug Strawinski Liaisons: Chris ne Kane (Liaison, Red Hook Town Board), Melkorka Kjarval (Liaison, Village of Red Hook) Guests: Eric Pierson (Pa ern for Progress), Tiffany Zezula (Pace Land Use Law Center) Regrets Jennifer Mañon, Ben Shute, Taun Toay (Liaison, Bard College) Minutes Minutes from the July 22nd mee ng were approved. Commi ee Updates Agatha Bacelar has moved out of state and resigned from the Steering Commi ee. The commi ee does not have immediate plans to fill this vacancy. Tricia Reed was approved as the Chair of the Community Engagement Subcommi ee. Discussion – Upcoming Community Engagement Informa on generated during community engagement ac vi es will be collected and analyzed by Pa ern for Progress and will be shared with the Steering Commi ee periodically throughout the planning process. Workshop #1 – Visioning Workshop The commi ee discussed goals, format and venue for this ac vity, which will be held in October. It is intended to provide some basic informa on about the comprehensive planning process and listen to community ideas for the future of Red Hook. This workshop will focus broadly on vision, with future workshops focusing on goals and strategies. A digital survey mirroring the format of the workshop will be released a er the workshop. Kitchen Table Conversa ons Pa ern for Progress is working on developing a kit for poten al Kitchen Table Conversa on hosts. This will be distributed to the commi ee when ready. The purpose of these conversa ons is to provide a casual and accessible se ng for conversa on, which may make it possible to engage residents who will 1

not come to other engagement events. The importance of submi ng informa on from the Kitchen Table Conversa ons back to Pa ern for Progress was discussed, as was the process for training poten al hosts who are not members of the Steering Commi ee or Community Engagement Subcommi ee. Other Community Engagement & Outreach  Red Hook High School is interested in hos ng a workshop for its students.  A newsle er is in development and will be ready in me to promote the workshop.  Addi onal outreach/communica ons will be needed to spread the word about the workshop.  Hardscrabble Day is September 20th. The comprehensive plan will have a booth.  The Community Engagement Subcommi ee will begin to get organized, preferably in me to support Hardscrabble Day and/or the workshop. Next Steps Next mee ng: September 23rd, 7:30-9:00pm The September mee ng will focus on ongoing and upcoming community engagement with par cular focus on the visioning workshop.
