Official 200th Anniversary of the Founding of the Village of Red Hook

WHEREAS

  • the Village Board has the authority and duty to honor the formal separation of the Town of Red Hook from the town of Rhinebeck in that far distant year of 1812
  • the Red Hook Bicentennial Celebration Committee is to create, organize and manage a series of community events, education and legacy projects to celebrate our beautiful Hudson River, our bountiful farms and businesses, and our creative industrious people
  • the intent of the Bicentennial Celebration is to strengthen the bonds of community of place, time and commitment that characterize Red Hook as unique
  • we commend and deeply appreciate the efforts of the many volunteers who are giving of their time, commitment and passion to recognize the Bicentennial of Red Hook as a special, historic opportunity

RESOLVED

  • we unanimously support the Red Hook Bicentennial Celebration Committee, its plans and goals, and do proclaim 2012 as the Official Bicentennial Year of the Town of Red Hook
