RESOLVED

  1. the Town Board of the Town of Red Hook hereby requests that the Commissioner of the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the New York State Department of Transportation take all steps necessary to provide for the reduction of the speed limit on East Kerley Corners Road along its entire length from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour or to such lower limit as may be indicated in a study of traffic conditions

  • WHEREAS, the Town of Red Hook has noted the need for modification of the speed limit on East Kerley Corners Road for its entire length, and in particular the Town Board has noted that uses long said road are residential and agricultural in nature
  • WHEREAS, said road is surrounded in large part by property in the AB District where farm vehicles are frequently in use
  • WHEREAS, the speed limit on the continuation of such road in the County of Columbia is already 45 MPH
  • WHEREAS, said road includes hilly areas and curves
  • WHEREAS, the Town's Comprehensive Plan, Open Space Plan and Trail Plan emphasizes creating pedestrian and bicycle friendly routes
