RESOLVED

  1. The Town Board of the Town of Red Hook hereby requests that the Commissioner of the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the NYS Department of Transportation take all steps necessary to authorize the reduction of the speed limit on the roads within the College Park Neighborhood, including Harvard Street, Princeton Street, Amherst Street, Columbia Avenue, Cornell Avenue, Vassar Road, and Thayer Lane, from the area limit of 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.
  2. The Town Board of the Town of Red Hook hereby requests that the Commissioner of the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the NYS Department of Transportation take all steps necessary to provide for the reduction of the speed limit on the roads within the Forest Park Neighborhood, including, Kalina Drive, Edgewood Drive, Birchwood Drive, Apple Tree Drive, Mountain View Court, Shady Lane, Overlook Drive, Evergreen Lane, Cedar Drive, and Cherrywood Lane from the area limit of 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.

  • WHEREAS, pursuant to the NYS Vehicles and Traffic Law ("VAT") § 1622 the department of transportation upon the request of the Town Board of the Town may by order establish a maximum speed limit which shall not exceed 55 miles per hour ("mph") or be less than 25 mph
  • WHEREAS, the College Park neighborhood has a current speed limit of 35 mph and the Town's engineering firm, Creighton Manning per their Technical Memorandum dated June 7, 2023, has recommended lowering the speed limit to 25 mph to be consistent with the land use of the area and for the safety of the residents
  • WHEREAS, the Forest Park neighborhood has a current speed limit of 35 mph and the Town's engineering firm, Creighton Manning per their Technical Memorandum dated June 7, 2023, has recommended lowering the speed limit to 25 mph to be consistent with the land use of the area and for the safety of the residents
