RESOLVED

  1. the Town Board of the Town of Red Hook shall hold a public hearing on May 24, 2023, at 7:45 o'clock P.M. at the Town Hall, 7340 South Broadway, Red Hook, New York, to hear all interested parties on the proposed acquisition of an interest or right in the Farm Assemblage more specifically described in the attached form of notice for the primary purpose of preserving open space
  2. the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish notice of said public hearing in the Poughkeepsie Journal, the official newspaper of said Town, on or before May 15, 2023, which is not less than ten (10) days prior to the date of said public hearing

  • WHEREAS, the Cookingham Farm (West) located west of Rt. 9 (the "Farm") is an approximately 114.8 acre farm including lands used in agricultural production, with approximately 70.3 acres of statewide important farmlands, and 23.7 acres of prime soils, and with associated farmhouse, and other farm structures, and including important water resources, and lands adjacent to existing Village and Town parks, has been made available for sale only as a single assemblage (the "West Farm Assemblage")
  • WHEREAS, in consideration of the conditions of sale as a single assemblage and the importance of the unique resources offered by the site, the Town is proposing to purchase the West Farm Assemblage as a whole, at a price determined by the Town to reflect fair market value, for the purpose of preservation of open space authorized by General Municipal Law Section 247
  • WHEREAS, in connection with such acquisition the Town is considering the potential for use of funds provided pursuant to Section 143-49.2 of the Town Code for a portion of such costs
  • WHEREAS, in connection with such acquisition the Town is considering the potential for use of a portion of the lands so acquired for aquifer protection and for addition to parklands
  • WHEREAS, the Town has called for a public hearing for the acquisition of a conservation interest or other interest in property pursuant to the Town's Community Preservation Fund Program, an application having been submitted by the owners thereof, and if so approved the acquisition of the West Farm Assemblage would provide for the execution and recording of a conservation easement
  • WHEREAS, a Part 1 EAF has been prepared for the proposed acquisition
