RESOLUTION TO TEMPORARILY RESTRICT PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF PARK AVENUE AND FOR 200 FT ON CHURCH STREET EXT.

Resolution #31-2024 — 2024-09-09

WHEREAS

  • the Cookingham West new public trail system will be open to the public within the next few weeks
  • the only current parking to access these trails is street parking
  • a major access point for the Cookingham West trails is via the Richard M. Abrahams Memorial Park
  • parking for the Richard M. Abrahams Memorial Park is along Park Avenue
  • currently parking is allowed by code along both sides of Park Avenue and Church Street Ext.
  • we don't know how popular the new trail system will be and we want to ensure that emergency vehicles can get through which they cannot if there are cars parked on both sides of Park Avenue

RESOLVED

  • the Village Board of Trustees authorizes the temporary restriction of parking as follows: No parking on the North Side of Park Avenue; No parking on either side of Church Street Ext. for 200 ft from Park Avenue; No parking on the East Side of Church Street Ext. after the 200 ft from Park Avenue
  • a crosswalk will be added across Park Avenue from the sidewalk to the beginning of the path in the Richard M. Abrahams Memorial Park
