Sidewalk Snow/Ice Removal Obligation
Per Village Code Section 165-1, the owner and/or occupant of every building and/or lot of ground adjoining a sidewalk must remove all snow and ice within 24 hours after a snow/ice storm. If the owner or occupant neglects to do so, the Village will clear the sidewalk on their behalf and charge the expense to the property owner.[6][11][13]
Snow Removal Fee — First Offense
For a first offense in a season, the Village charges $2.00 per linear foot for snow removal, plus $0.50 per linear foot for sanding/salting if required. These fees are effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[13]
Snow Removal Fee — Second Offense
For a second offense in a season, the Village charges $3.00 per linear foot for snow removal, plus $0.75 per linear foot for sanding/salting if required. These fees are effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[13]
Snow Removal Fee — Third and Subsequent Offenses
For a third or any subsequent offense in a season, the Village charges $4.00 per linear foot for snow removal, plus $1.00 per linear foot for sanding/salting if required. These fees are effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[13]
Snow Removal Invoice Correction Directive
The Village Clerk is directed to amend any invoices already issued during the 2025–2026 winter season to conform to the revised tiered snow removal and salting fee schedule adopted January 12, 2026.[13]

Building, Planning & Zoning Fee Schedule — General Authority
The Village of Red Hook maintains a Building, Planning & Zoning Department fee schedule governing permits and other processes. The current schedule was last comprehensively amended effective July 15, 2024, and incorporates all prior revisions including those adopted August 8, 2022. The Clerk is directed to distribute the rate sheet and post it on the Village website.[5][7][8][10]
Animal Husbandry, Hens, and Honeybees Permit Fees
Fees associated with §200-18.1 Animal husbandry, hens and honeybees are included in the Building, Planning & Zoning Department Fee Schedule, effective July 15, 2024.[10]

Stop Work Order — Fee to Lift
A fee of $250 is charged to lift a Stop Work Order, added to the Building, Planning & Zoning Department Fee Schedule effective July 10, 2023.[9]
Stop Work Order — Violation Fee
A fee of $500 per day is charged for violating a Stop Work Order, added to the Building, Planning & Zoning Department Fee Schedule effective July 10, 2023.[9]

Operating permits are required for all churches and places of assembly at a cost of $50.00 per permit, with each permit valid for 3 years.[4]
