Sidewalk Snow Removal Fee — First Offense
For a property owner's first offense in a season, the Village charges $2.00 per linear foot for snow and ice removal performed by the Village after the owner fails to clear the sidewalk within 24 hours of a storm. This tiered fee schedule became effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[4]

Sanding/Salting Fee — First Offense
When sanding or salting is required on a property owner's first offense in a season, the Village charges an additional $0.50 per linear foot. This fee became effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[4]
Sanding/Salting Fee — Second Offense
When sanding or salting is required on a property owner's second offense in a season, the Village charges an additional $0.75 per linear foot. This fee became effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[4]
Sanding/Salting Fee — Third and Subsequent Offenses
When sanding or salting is required on a property owner's third or any subsequent offense in a season, the Village charges an additional $1.00 per linear foot. This fee became effective retroactive to the beginning of the 2025–2026 winter season.[4]
Invoice Correction Directive
The Village Clerk is directed to amend any invoices already issued under the prior flat-rate fee schedule to conform to the revised tiered fee structure adopted January 12, 2026.[4]
Sidewalk Clearing Obligation and Billing Authority
Per Village Code Section 165-1, every owner and/or occupant of a building or lot adjoining a sidewalk must remove all snow and ice within 24 hours after a snow/ice storm. Per Section 165-4, if the owner/occupant neglects to do so, the Village will clear the sidewalk and charge the expense against the property owner in the next tax assessment, collected with the next tax levy.[1][2][4]
