VILLAGE OF RED HOOK RESOLUTION #___ - 2025 DATED: JUNE 9, 2025

A meeting of the Village of Red Hook Board of Trustees was convened in public session at the Village Hall, 7467 South Broadway, Red Hook, NY on June 9, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Smythe.

RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH AN EVENTS COMMITTEE

WHEREAS, the Village of Red Hook (the Village) seeks to facilitate and encourage public events in the Village; and

WHEREAS, the Village owns public spaces suitable for events consistent with the public interest; and

WHEREAS, the Village needs a method to promote the creation of such events that is equitable and fair;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT; the Village Board of Trustees hereby creates the Events Committee as follows:

Membership:

  • Events Committee members will be appointed by the mayor and approved by the Board

  • Events Committee members must be Village residents

  • A Board member, appointed by the mayor, will serve as liaison to the Board, responsible for reporting on the actions of the Committee

  • Events Committee members will serve __ year terms

  • There shall be a minimum of three members

Meeting guidelines:

  • The Committee shall follow the Open Meetings Law

  • Minutes of all meetings shall be kept and filed with the Village Clerk

  • A meeting schedule shall be established by the Chair and all meetings, where possible, shall be posted one week in advance on the Village website

Powers & Duties:

  • The Village Events Committee is charged with advising the Village Board of Trustees on the Village Events Permit Application and Process

  • The Events Committee will ensure that the agreed upon process is followed

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, after the initial review of each permit application, an Events Committee member shall meet with the mayor and the applicant(s) for the purpose of advising the Mayor.
