RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE RED HOOK VILLAGE GREEN COMMITTEE

Resolution #22-2025 — 2025-06-09

WHEREAS

  • Chapter 179 of the Village Code establishes the Village Green Committee under 179-4 Administration for the Community Forestry Program
  • the Village Board of Trustees would like to clarify the structure and powers and duties of the Village Green Committee

RESOLVED

  • The Village Board of Trustees hereby authorizes the Village Green Committee with three appointed officers and additional members, all Village residents, with a Board liaison appointed by the mayor
  • Officers and members will serve one (1) year terms, not subject to term limits
  • All meetings shall be open to the public when a quorum is present; agendas and minutes shall be kept and filed with the Village Clerk; meetings shall be posted at least one week in advance
  • A virtual option for attendance shall be made available with the meeting scheduled except for outdoor meetings
  • The Committee is charged with developing and administering the Community Forestry Program in collaboration with the DPW Foreman
  • The Village will set aside a budget of at least $2 per capita for implementation of the Community Forestry Program
  • The Committee will advise the Board on recommended adjustments, organize annual Arbor Day observance, maintain tree inventory, adhere to Tree City USA guidelines, coordinate bench donations, and recommend additional projects
