Resolution to Designate Installation of an Electric Vehicle Charging Station as Minor Work

Resolution #18-2015 — 2015-10-19

WHEREAS

  • electric vehicle usage is increasing throughout the country
  • the Village of Red Hook has amended its Zoning Law to facilitate the installation of electric vehicle charging stations by permitting them as an accessory use in most districts
  • rather than adopt a separate permit specific to the installation of an electric vehicle charging station, the Village has determined to classify such installation as "minor work" as classified by the code enforcement officer
  • in the Village of Red Hook, large electrical appliances are required to obtain a regular building permit
  • the designation of installation of an electric vehicle charging station as "minor work" is a Type II action pursuant to 6 NYCRR § 617.5C(20), routine or continuing agency administration and management

RESOLVED

  • the Board of Trustees of the Village of Red Hook hereby classifies the installation of an electric vehicle charging station as "minor work" requiring the same permitting process as required by the code enforcement officer
  • notwithstanding classification as "minor work", the installation of an electric vehicle charging station must still comply with all applicable requirements of the Zoning Law
