RESOLUTION REGARDING ADDITION OF A FULL-TIME LIEUTENANT POSITION TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND APPOINTMENTS

Resolution #17-2023 — 2023-05-08

WHEREAS

  • the Village Board has determined that to improve operations and efficiency within Village Hall and best serve the public, it is appropriate to create the position of Full-Time Police Lieutenant
  • the Village has consulted with the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources, and any required documentation has been and/or will be submitted for creation of the position of Full-Time Lieutenant
  • the Village Board has discussed the creation of the position of Full-Time Police Lieutenant and would like to create the position, as permitted under applicable New York State Law
  • the Village Board desires to temporarily appoint Sergeant Patrick Hildenbrand to the position of Full-Time Police Lieutenant upon creation effective June 1, 2023
  • the Village Board desires to temporarily appoint Officer Travis Sterritt to the position of Full-Time Police Sergeant effective June 1, 2023

RESOLVED

  • the Village Board hereby creates of the position of Full-Time Police Lieutenant
  • the Village Board sets the salary for the position of Full-Time Police Lieutenant and Full-Time Police Sergeant as per the proposed Memorandum of Agreement with the United Public Service Employees Union annexed hereto
  • the Village Board temporarily appoints Sergeant Patrick Hildenbrand to the position of Full-Time Police Lieutenant upon creation effective June 1, 2023
  • the Village Board temporarily appoints Police Officer Travis Sterritt to the position of Full-Time Police Sergeant effective June 1, 2023
  • the Village Board will make the appropriate modifications to the 2023–2024 adopted budget with a separate budget modification resolution
  • all other benefits and pay rates will be as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement dated June 1, 2021 and as negotiated with the applicable union representative
  • the Village Board authorizes Mayor Smythe or her designee to execute and file any appropriate documentation to effectuate the terms of this resolution
