Water Department
There was no meeting since the last Board meeting. However, I can report on water usage and testing results.
In the month of May, the Village Water Department customers used almost 9 million gallons of water (8,918,020) for an average consumption of 287,678 gallons per day.
Three locations were sampled on May 21, 2025. All three locations were negative for Coliform and E. coli. The free chlorine residual amounts ranged from .35 mg/liter to .01 mg/liter. As a reminder, there are 1000 mg in a liter of water.
Language Access Grant
In keeping with what I said at last month’s workshop meeting, equipment was purchased that will allow anyone attending a public meeting to get simultaneous interpretation via bluetooth headphones linked to Chromebooks that connect the users with a remote interpreter who is accessing the meeting via the Village’s Zoom account. The Village has 5 sets of headphones and 5 Chromebooks, each with a protective sleeve case. The full cost of this equipment is reimbursable by Dutchess County via the Village’s MIG grant to provide greater Language Access to Village information and services.
School Speed Zone & Village-wide 25 mph Projects
I have taken over these initiatives begun by Trustee Kym Bradley-Rickard. After reading the draft report from Creighton Manning, I’ve set up a meeting with Ken Wersted, the Village’s contact. I will be asking Mr Wersted about how recent advisory changes by DOT might affect the draft reports’ conclusions and suggest a final report.
The next step to move the school speed zone forward is for the Village to pass a resolution in favor of establishing one which would be submitted to DOT along with a letter of support from the school district. The school district has expressed enthusiasm for the project and, provided I have the letter of support by the June workshop, I will present a resolution on the topic so that we can get this project moving again.
