There were no formal Village Green Committee Meetings held during the month of November, 2023. However, we had our annual Fall Tree Planting where we had 15 volunteers come out a sunny and brisk Saturday morning (Nov. 4[th] ) with shovels, gloves and gusto. This helps us continue our 22[nd] year as a Tree City Community! This year we have planted 20 trees around the Village. I would like to say thank you to everyone involved but particularly a special thank you to Michelle Decker of Decker Construction for digging and preparing the tree planting sites, the Village Highway Department for post-planting watering and tree mulch delivery, Dave Pearson for organizing the tree delivery, coordinating site preparation and the crew at Corner Counter for preparing our food for the post-planting volunteer luncheon. The Town of Red Hook and their volunteers also planted that same day working for our entire community where both municipalities are actively adding to our urban canopy and doing our part to offset greenhouse gases!

We have successfully submitted our final grant report for a New York State Urban Forestry Reimbursement Grant that had been awarded for the planting of trees. And our application to continue to be recognized as a Tree City was finished and submitted early!

Residents and businesses interested in having a tree(s) planted on their adjacent Village street or NYS highway right-of-ways, volunteering for planting days, or sponsoring a VGC beautification project, may contact David Pearson, myself, Kym Bradley-Rickard, or the Jen Cavanaugh- Village Clerk.

At the time of this report the next meeting that was scheduled to be held on Dec. 6[th ] had been postponed. Meetings are open to
