VILLAGE OF RED HOOK VILLAGE GREEN COMMITTEE (VGC) MONTHLY REPORT OCTOBER, 2022

  1. The current balances of the Village Green Committee's related budget accounts, as of October 31, 2022, are as follows:

  2. A Village Green Committee Meeting was held on October 7, 2022 in the Red Hook Village Building. David Pearson, Kathy Pearson, Brian Foran, and Brent Kovalchik attended. The following items were discussed:

    • e Reviewed tree list for the 2022 Annual Fall Planting Day.

    • e Discussed Volunteer Luncheon, with the Red Hook Tree Commission, for the Annual Fall Planting Day.

  • e Discussed arrangements for site preparation with Michele Decker (Decker Construction) and contacting NYS Dig Safely prior to hole digging.

    1. The 2022 Annual Fall Planting Day was held on November 5, 2022. Volunteers assembled at Richard M. Abrahams Memorial Park for team assignments and photo ops. Eighteen trees were planted at Richard M. Abrahams Memorial Park, Memorial Park, Firehouse Lane and the Village of Red Hook Municipal Parking Lot. Grants for the NYS Urban Forestry Council ($1,000.00), the Dutchess Land Conservancy ($1,500.00), and David Seymour covered the cost of all trees planted at the 2022 Annual Fall Planting Day.
    • e A luncheon was prepared by the Village Green Committee and the Red Hook Town Tree Commission for all volunteers. The luncheon was held at the Red Hook Town Hall immediately after tree planting.
  1. Residents and businesses interested in having a tree(s) planted on their property’s adjacent Village or State right-of-ways, volunteering for planting days, or sponsoring a VGC community beautification project, may contact David Pearson, Brent Kovalchik, or the Village Clerk.
